Ian Rolle’s Easter Message 2016

President- Grand Bahama Port Authority

The time has come once again for us to reflect on the sacrificial death and celebrate the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ who came to this world and walked among us so that we may have lives that are abundantly blessed.  Along with many Christians in our nation and millions around the world, the board, executives and staff of the Grand Bahama Port Authority joins in such celebrations and wish to extend to all residents of Grand Bahama Island and throughout the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, a Happy Easter.

As we pause to observe the significance of Jesus’ trek with his disciples to spread the message of the Kingdom of God, his persecution and his ultimate resurrection, let us be reminded of the sacrifice which he made for the purpose of reconciling us to God and in doing so, pledge to uplift and encourage one another rather than tear each other down.

The time at hand certainly allows us to also reflect on our own lives through prayer and meditation as we seek God’s continued guidance and mercy.  As an island and nation, let us never forget the foundation of Christian faith on which we were built, by ensuring that our lives exhibit humility, obedience, kindness and love to our neighbours.

On a global scale, the prayers of the GBPA remain with the families who have lost loved ones, as we continue to see hate in its worst form with the senseless killings and beheading of thousands of Christians around the world by militant groups against the Christian faith; our prayer is that here at home such atrocities never reach our shores, allowing for the continued freedom to worship the True and Living God.

Grand Bahama and its people have proven to be very resilient in spite of what we have endured within the past few years, beginning with a recession in the world’s economy. It is therefore of the utmost importance that we do not give up now in our efforts to improve in many areas, inclusive, but not limited to foreign and domestic investment as well as measures geared at  empowering the Bahamian citizenry through the promotion of entrepreneurship and quality education.

The Grand Bahama Port Authority remains committed in its mandate to expand the City of Freeport, through which the outlying areas of our island will also witness an economic rebirth. We urge you to join us in doing so by moving towards your dreams, setting personal goals, and working towards achieving them.

It is on that premise that we once again wish residents throughout the entire Grand Bahama Island, a safe and happy Easter.

God bless The Bahamas!
